Death to Sin

Throughout the Old Testament, once sin enters the world, it seems to have a stronghold over humanity that cannot be overcome through human willpower. God offers re-creations throughout Israel's story, attempts to bring her back to his original design, but over and over again, humans un-create God's good design with sin. What are God and humans to do?

In Jesus' baptism, we see a new creation breaking into the earth, and we find its power in the wilderness, where Jesus does what no human could ever do: overcome sin.
