Becoming a Practicing People

Jan 18, 2026    Claire Cottrill

We are all being formed by something. The question is not if we are being shaped, but by what, and into who. This message explores how mature disciples of Jesus are formed not by accident or willpower alone, but through intentional spiritual practices empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Looking at Acts 2:42–47, we see that the early church built their lives around rhythms of worship, Scripture, prayer, and joy—and God used those practices to transform them and multiply their witness.

At LifeSpring, we believe these same rhythms keep us “at home” in God’s love. Worship re-centers our hearts on God, Scripture roots us in truth, prayer keeps us connected to His presence, and joyful community shapes us together. Spiritual practices are not about earning God’s favor; they are ways we open ourselves for God to do what only He can do: change us into the likeness of Jesus.

This year, we are becoming a people who don’t just believe the gospel but practice it, personally and together, so that our lives reflect the beauty and love of Christ.
