Episode 4: Kings
Israel thought they had finally figured out what was missing: they needed a king like all the other nations. But in their desire to be like everyone else, they rejected the King they already had—God.
In this message, Josh explores how discontentment can lead us to place lesser things on the throne of our lives and how easily we can forget our identity as God's people. Israel's story reminds us that we were never meant to look like the kingdoms of this world. We belong to a different Kingdom, one marked by love, humility, mercy, and grace.
Ultimately, Israel's earthly kings could never provide what the people truly needed. Their story points us to Jesus, the true King, who came to rescue us from sin and death and invite us into His Kingdom here and now.
The invitation: Identify the lesser kings competing for your heart, remember who you are as a child of God, and live under the rule of King Jesus—bringing His Kingdom to earth as it is in heaven.
